5 Barn wedding venues in Fife, Scotland

As a live wedding painter in Fife, Scotland, I am also a country bumpkin who has been to a few barn weddings.

According to a report in Fife Today, Fife’s countryside covers 132,500 hectares and a farmland area of 97,068 hectares, the Kingdom boasts 524 farms of 50 hectares or more.

There are 1530 farms and holdings. Understandably, we have a lot of repurposed barns.

This makes Fife a perfect destination for your boutique barn wedding.

Let’s have a look at some I’ve found.

1.Pratis Barns

Where: East Neuk near Leven

Pratis Barns is a family run barn. Nicola and Patrick have many years of experience between them of arranging weddings. They make you feel immediately welcomed and at home.

There is a ceremony barn offers a relaxed and beautiful feel to your wedding service; as an old hay barn it has all the original doors and cubby holes for the hay being brought in for the cattle.

The whole venue which offers a truly rustic experience

With 6 refurbished barns , it is adorned with fairy lights and candles and yours to transform in to a magical, romantic backdrop .

I painted guest portraits in this venue in knee deep snow one winter and I note that the barn can be heated for your ceremony making it cosy for you and your guests.

2. The Cowshed

Where: Crail, East Neuk of Fife

Think about a blank canvas for your barn wedding. The Cowshed offers just that. The venue is a stylish airy repurposed cowshed with original features. When it is decorated up for your wedding it creates a truly rustic experience.

The cowshed is suited for weddings up to 200 people. You could use the barn for the wedding ceremony with drinks in the courtyard and then dinner and dancing in the steading marquee. Whatever you want goes. The new roundal room with its log burner also is a cosy little Neuk for guests.

The Estate offers accommodation in nine cottages (sleeping 41) and two cow pads (each sleeps 2). Perfect for travelling guests.

3.Falside Mill

Where: Kingsbarns nr St Andrews

Kilrie Granary is an old granary building which today is a repurposed events venue. The Granary Hall is a beautiful baronial hall containing a large fireplace as its centrepiece. The Hall can accommodate up to 22 guests for a sit down dinner or up to 60 for a wedding reception, dance or drinks party. Another option is their long gallery where there is space to seat up to 60 guests, or 80 for a dance or reception.

Guests can walk around the beautiful grounds and visit the 17th century mill wheel.

Accommodation : 2 bedroom refurbished cottage.

Whatever you want your fairytale barn wedding to look like, there is something for your to find in Fife.

You can make it even more unique by commissioning a live wedding painter to capture your favourite moment on canvas.

Having a live wedding artist at your wedding also holds its roots in tradition. Before the rise of wedding photography, it was practice to commission an artist to record your day on canvas.

Today, a wedding painting can provide something extra.

A live wedding painter will attend your wedding and paint live in real time whilst your guests watch the painting unfold.

You will be left with a memory to keep forever to remember the atmosphere of that moment in the day.
