Live wedding illustration Scotland

Live Wedding Illustrator at Colstoun House
As a live wedding illustrator, I’ve had the privilege of bringing love stories to life through my art, and Helena and Jesse’s wedding at Colstoun House in Haddington was an unforgettable summer wedding experience.

Nestled in the heart of East Lothian, this historic venue offers a picturesque backdrop for a traditional vintage style wedding.

The Venue: Colstoun House
Colstoun House is a gem of a location, combining rustic charm with an air of timeless elegance. Surrounded by lush gardens and expansive lawns, it creates an idyllic setting for any celebration.
As I arrived, the first thing you see is the sight of the stately mansion and its beautifully manicured grounds. Around the back, there is a polytunnel in the walled garden for wedding ceremonies and a huge lawn for celebrations.
The weather was perfect, with a gentle breeze rustling through the trees and the sun casting a warm glow over the scene.
The Wedding: Helena and Jesse
Helena and Jesse’s wedding was held on a May weekend. Just as everything was in bloom. The lawn garden reception was a vision of beauty, with guests mingling under the trees listening to the string quartet and sipping champagne.

My Role: Live Wedding Illustrator
As a live wedding illustrator, my task was to capture the guests through spontaneous, on-the-spot live sketches. Positioned on the lawn under a tree, I set up my easel and began mingling and takin photos of guests to work from. Each portrait was created unique to each guest. A little keepsake to treasure.

The guests were fascinated by the process, often gathering around to watch as their friends and family members were sketched. There were smiles, laughter, and shrieks as people received their portraits. It was a wonderful feeling to see how much my art can bring joy.

What makes live wedding illustration so special is the ability to capture the emotions of the moment. There’s a certain fun in creating art in real-time, surrounded by the love and energy of the friends of the couple. For Helena and Jesse, these sketches served as personal mementos of their special day, each one telling a story of beautiful outfits and a memory made.

A Day to Remember
My day at Colstoun House was truly memorable. It was an honor to be part of Helena and Jesse’s wedding, to witness their love, and to contribute to their celebration in such a unique way. As I packed up my easel and sketches at the end of the day, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to share my art and to be a part of such a beautiful event.

Colstoun House, I will be back for more timeless celebrations.
