Weddings are always a canvas of joy, love, and celebration, but Shannon and Liam’s special day at Kinkell Byre in St Andrews was a great summer wedding day.
As a live guest illustrator, I had the honour of painting my quirky guest portraits.
A Historic Venue
Kinkell Byre, with its rustic charm and historic setting, was the perfect backdrop for this day. The venue’s exposed stone walls and atmospheric lighting created an enchanting setting, ideal for a love story to unfold—and for a wedding artist or photographer to find endless inspiration.
Guest illustrations
From the moment the guests arrived, dressed to the nines and bubbling with excitement, I was ready to turn them into whimsical paintings. The perfect little keepsake for the guests.
The Process
Live illustrating at a wedding is both a thrilling and challenging experience. With my watercolors, I set up a cozy corner where I could observe the events and work away. Guests would come by, curious and eager to see the sketches taking shape and have a little chat.
Guest Reactions
One of the highlights was the reaction from Shannon and Liam themselves. Seeing their love story come to life on paper brought smiles and laughter, The guests were equally enthralled, shrieks of laughter and smiles confirmed I did a good job.
A Keepsake of Love
By the end of the evening, I had a collection of illustrations for the guests to take home and treasure.
Shannon and Liam’s wedding at Kinkell Byre was a beautiful. As an illustrator, being a part of their special day and capturing the essence of their love in my art was an unforgettable experience.
